Soviel erstklassige Ironie auf einem Album, so konzentriert Song für Song aufgereiht, in so bilderbuchartig hinreißenden Avantrockpoprocksongs - das ist selten. Sobald dabei indes der Name Pierre Vervloesem ins Auge fällt, bleibt nur: "alles klar!" festzustellen, was soll's sonst sein. Kann nur gut, schräg gut, purzelbaumpingpong-gut sein.
Die P.V. Presents - Serie geht weiter. Nach "Unchained Melodies" (Kings of Belgium) und "Not Even Close" (Pierre Vervloesem), "Wing-Chester" (P.V.T.V.) und just gerade erst "Très Fort" (Kings of Belgium) gleich eine 4-CD-Box.
Die ist indes schon länger erhältlich, war mit nur unbekannt. Auf dreien der vier Alben spielt der Massa himself nicht nur auch mit, die überwiegende Anzahl der Songs jener Alben stammt: aus seiner Feder.
Was alle Alben gemein haben: sie sind äußerst kurzweilig. Die Songs haben lustige oder wie-kommen-die-nur-darauf-Namen, sind kurz und kürzer, seltsam schräg und extravagant, rocken knackfrisch und sind dabei dennoch eingängig und poppig. Der ‚normale' Pophörer wird den Sound gewiss nicht leicht begreifen können oder wollen, wenn er auch nicht halbtot umfällt, sobald ihm diese ausgefallenen Klänge zu Ohren kommen, so könnte doch sein Weltbild bestätigt oder aus den Fugen gerissen werden, ganz nach Einbettung ins Dasein oder Neugierde auf immer noch Neugierde.
Der Reihe nach: THE CLAUDE ZAC ENSEMBLE weist die meisten Reminiszenzen an X-Legged Sally und A Group auf. Es gibt, logisch, auch hier wieder Tierlaute im Off, am Song-Ende, in Mini-Lücken mittendrin oder sonst wo ungeahntes. Drei Stammgitarristen plus P.V. samt Bass, Schlagzeug und Gasttasten, Gaststimmen (kaum zu finden!) und Gasttrompete machen illuster beschwingten Leisekrachavantrockpoprock, der unwiderstehlich und hinreißend ausgefallen ist. Nix fragen: ja wie denn nun?!?

CACA mit P.V. an erster Position ist deutlich härter und aggressiver, es gibt mehr XLS-Nähe, erstaunlich viel Gebläse [dermaleinst meinte P.V. mir gegenüber, XLS sei auch deswegen gone, weil sein (damaliger) Partner in crime, Gebläsespezialist und heutiger - Flat Earth Society-Vorsitzender Peter Vermeersch ihm mit seinen "Bläserphantasien" auf den Geist ging], gleich von vier Saxophonisten und längst in anderer Arrangementdenkart als bei XLS und FES. Die Band rockt heiß, spielt munter und extralebhaft, schick jazzverliebt und komplexrhythmisch und die Saxophoni machen die Kanten fett und megascharf zugleich!!! Eine derart gute Idee war nur deswegen entstanden, weil sie notwendig und logisch war. Der rasante und hinreißend druckvoll energische, stets düsterfröhliche, ironisch-eiskalte, gefühlsechte Sound hat soviel Überraschungspotential, das nichts bleibt, als die Platte stets immer wieder und aufs Neue zu hören und hören. Wer 'ne Schublade will: BigBandHardProg Vervloesemscher Prägung ist die Kurzfassung.
Codswallop sind nicht Kings of Belgium, obschon am Microphone nicht Richard der Dritte, sondern Richard Belgium arbeitet. Der groovige Avantpopsound stets ganz im Geisteserbe von A Group [einem längst verblichenen, X-Legged Sally aka XLS folgenden Popavanthardrock-Projekt, das zwei CDs und eine Maxi veröffentlichte und nach getaner Arbeit sogleich selig entschlief] steht. Die Extraportion FUNK steckt in der Statik der Songs und lässt das Gebäude cool wackeln und bibbern. Tierlaute: überall. Aller Arten: Puter, Affen, usw. Richard der Belgier hat ein cooles Stimmorgan, und die ihn umarbeitende Band ist so hinreißend unterwegs, dass ich mich unwillkürlich frage, wo der Mr. P.V. das alles nur wieder hernimmt, Song auf Song für Song immer neue Ideen und allez frisch und munter und vitalz und begnadetz und hinreißendz. Die Bandmitarbeiter sind bekannt aus dem P.V.-Umfeld, krachen sanft, flüstern kreischend und finden immer den Ton, den die Geldverdiener unter den Nichtmusikmusikern weglassen, weil die alle doof und öde sind. Diese machen Musik und haben Stil, wissen zu unterhalten und könnten glatt einen Hühnerstall voll solcherart ungebildeter Mädchens mit Verve und Schmackes den Abend bereiten.

Zuletzt was ganz anderes: und ganz ohne Pierre Vervloesem.
John Koening ist ein in Budapest, Ungarn, geborener Komponist und Dirigent. Seit 1969 lebt er in Brüssel, studierte Musik, wurde Konzertviolinist und Komponist. John Koening ist vor allem für seine Filmmusik bekannt. Er hat diverse Werke geschrieben, die in der Überzahl kaum noch aufzutreiben sind.
Die neun Stücke auf "JOHN KŚNIG" sind elektroakustische Groove- und Funkstücke, instrumentale Filmmusiksongs, die stets einen imaginären Film suggerieren, jedoch ganz gut ohne Film und Bild funktionieren. Der poppige, eingängige Sound setzt ganz auf intensiven Rhythmus, der zerfahrene melodisch eigenwillige und schräge Funkmotive untermalt, die in aller Eingängigkeit vielschichtig sind und ungemein Wirkung entfalten. In der Box die Außenseiterrolle, wird die CD für das große Publikum die einfachste und nachvollziehbarste Platte sein, die kein Stück langweilig oder doof, doch sehr schnell verstanden werden kann und gut im Kopf rotiert.

As Pierre is producing, discovering or playing with so many bands and as he was coming every two weeks with something new for Off label boss Alain to listen to, he suggested him to direct an exclusive series where he could share all this music with the rest of the world, and not only him.
This time, he came with 4 different projects almost at the same time. It seemed then quite logical to issue a box with those releases as they had the signature, the producing, the composing or the love of the mentor of the series!
Pierre Vervloesem is born in 1964 and has never stopped playing bass or guitar since he is 17.
His masters are Zappa, Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp, and you can definitively hear their influences here and there on all the albums that he has recorded.
He is always saying that he doesn't like jazz though there is evidently touches of it everywhere. He is a huge fan of John Barry (he did an entire album of improbable covers : 'Plays John Barry') Stravinsky, PIL, Godley&Creme, XTC, This Heat, Fantomas and Perez Prado.

Caca - Off-Rat records ORT001 - Sketches of Spain

Caca is the new band of Pierre Vervloesem.
This new megalo delirious adventure is based on second degree, starting by the name of the band which, quoting Pierre, has nothing to do with scatology.
Here Pierre renews his taste for big formations, like he did with X-legged Sally or still does playing with Flath Earth Society.
With Caca, he signs a very interesting parody of Jazz working with two noisy quartets . The first one beeing guitar, bass, drums and keyboard while the second one beeing Alto, Tenor, Bariton and Bass saxes.
The composing is without concession, like a rock, sometime out of tune, but ultimately ultra melodic and reaching at times some of the best John Barry ambiances.
Most of the musicians here are coming from the Jazz scene, which is also kind of fun for Pierre.
The music is an heritage from the New-York scene from the 70-80ties but has an instant modern echo which makes you want to move your feets on it !

Codswallop is the new concept of Pierre Vervloesem.
He wanted to record an album of songs for a change.
He spended a week composing the music and the basic trame of the voices, then recorded with the help of faithfull friends : Gilles Motiaux on guitar, bass and vocals, Didier Fontaine on drums and Joris Caluwaerts ( Zita Swoon) on keyboards.
He then asked Richard Belgium to write the words and sing on the album. Richard is a singer and stage performer living in Belgium with Belgian and British nationalities He sings in both French & English with equal sensuality Richard has been performing since 1979 in many music projects.
The music is a mixture of power pop, heavy rock and fun : a bit like the Monty Pythons were singing on Red Hot Chili Peppers music.

Everything started as a joke when Claude Zac mailed some demos to Pierre Vervloesem. Pierre loved what he heard instantly and started to record properly the music of Claude in his Fiasco studio.
Claude then left Belgium for Chili where he worked for one year and had the time to think over to those recorded songs.
Back to Brussels, he definitively wanted to perform live and hired Didier Fontaine on drums. The later introduced him to the talented Eric Dory ( guitars), Laurent Stelleman ( guitars) and Gilles Mortiaux ( bass).
The dream of having an instrumental band with three guitars, one bass and a drum was then a reality.
They started playing amazing live shows with a mix of rockabilly/punk/rock franzy. Four boys in a line fronting a 'muppet show' style drummer!
They went to re record again the songs as a proper band then.
The result is a 17 tracks album of Michel Magne meets The Residents meet some of the best Surfer and film music!
The album was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Pierre Vervloesem who's happily presenting them in his Series P.V. Presents.

John Koening (born April 13, 1950 in Budapest,Hungary), is a composer and conductor from a family of musicians. His father, Teodor Koening, is a pianist and conductor, his mother is a writer-composer.
After having been awarded first prizes for violin and composition at the National Conservatory of Budapest, he arrived in Brussels in 1969 and continued his studies at the Conservatoire de Bruxelles. From 1974 he made a number of international tours as a concert violinist and began to devote himself more to composing.
In 1978, he received his first commission to write film music for Julien Landeau " Voyage sidéral ". John Koening has since composed more than one hundred scores for feature films and TV series, most of them never ever showed as they were all unsuccessful or directly became cult movies.
As he signed a contract with a Hungarian label which made bankrupt in the mid-90ties, most of his music is now impossible to find.
Since the mid 70ties, Pierre Vervloesem became a huge fan of John Koening's work. He succeeded in February 2010 to find a copy of one of his most famous score that was composed in 1999. It was commissionned by the NASA for a feature documentary, but like most of his other scores, was then replaced by the music of another composer.
It's a privilege the label to finally give the place that John Koening deserves and to give people from the world the chance to discover his fantastic music.
Pierre Vervloesem is happily presenting him in his Series P.V. Presents.
